World Book Day 2026
What a fantastic day we had celebrating World Book Day in our school! The Junior pupils looked absolutely wonderful in their creative costumes, proudly bringing their favourite book characters to life. From magical heroes to mischievous villains, the school was bursting with colour, imagination and a real love of reading.
Our Senior pupils became authors for the week, using Book Creator to design and write their very own books. Their stories were packed with thrilling adventures — from scary trolls lurking in Juvenile Centres to racing cars speeding through action-filled scenes, and even mysterious execution chambers! The next time you visit the school, be sure to take a few minutes to browse their fantastic stories. You might just discover the next great young author!
This year’s World Book Day theme was “Little Red Riding Hood.” The Big Bad Wolf made a dramatic return after last year’s run-in with the Three Little Pigs! Our teachers fully embraced the fun by dressing up as characters from the story and performing a lively dramatisation for all the pupils — there were plenty of laughs, gasps and cheering from the audience.
Throughout the day, pupils explored the story in lots of creative ways across different subjects. They listened to a range of hilarious and imaginative retellings including Very Little Red Riding Hood, The Wolf's Story, Little Red Reading Hood, Little Rude Riding Hood and Not so Little Red Riding Hood.
The creativity didn’t stop there! Pupils designed beautiful bookmarks, tackled a David Walliams Billionaire Boy jigsaw and even used puppets to narrate and perform their own mini plays. It was a day full of storytelling, creativity, laughter, and most importantly, a celebration of the magic of books!
