St. Comgall's National School, Connons, Clones, Co. Monaghan

Fáilte / Welcome

Welcome to St. Comgall's website. Our school location, central to the rural community here in the 'Connons', gives us our unique 'sense of place' and provides a wonderful environment in which to colour the memories and mould the experiences of our pupils.

The children are at the heart of everything we do; we endeavour to nurture, care for, inspire and academically engage them to achieve their full potential.

We hope that you will enjoy your 'browse' into life at our school; may you continue to visit us, to view frequent school happenings and to also view our celebrations of special school moments!

St. Comgall’s a three-teacher rural primary school situated in the Drumlin countryside of west Monaghan, approximately eight kilometres from Clones. The original two classroom building was built in 1952 and was extended and extensively refurbished in 2006/2007. The new facelift is not only beautifully designed but also incorporates some of the most modern, up to date facilities available in any Irish school.

The accommodation comprises of two interactive whiteboard resourced classrooms, a multipurpose classroom, P.E. and equipment storerooms and special needs toilet facilities. There is also an attractive welcoming reception area equipped with library resources, a staffroom and a Principal’s office in the building. Outside boasts landscaped gardens, two substantial tarmaced playground areas with a wooden playground and poly-tunnel in the rear playground. Indeed, our school looks out on an idyllic, peaceful setting with St. Alphonsus’ Church across the road and our community hall, football field and tennis court located adjacent to the school.”
