VEX Robotics Competition

8th May 2024

Congratulations to our 4th and 5th class pupils, who today, took part in the VEX Robotics IQ competition in Corcaghan Community Hall, Monaghan. We were one of ten schools privileged to have been chosen to take part in this competition, the first of its kind in Monaghan. All pupils are natural scientists and engineers and this competition fostered the skills of questioning, experimenting, communicating and collaborating in a fun and authentic way. The VEX Robotics competition prepares pupils to become future innovators, encouraging them to take an increased interest in STEM subject areas and to pursue STEM-related careers. We were delighted to take home the prize for 'Robot Skills' which involved the pupils programming the robot to carry out a number of moves on its own to gain points. A huge thank you to Enda McCaffrey whose help was invaluable over the past number of weeks and who gave of his time and knowledge willingly. It is hoped to build on this experience year on year. Well done everyone!
