What a busy week we had indulging in all things science!
EVERYTHING YOU THINK YOU KNOW ABOUT SHARKS IS WRONG!
We joined Dr. Nick Crumpton as he took us into the world of sharks. Humans often think of Sharks as menacing sea creatures who will eat you as quick as look at you….but there's more to them than that! We enjoyed a very insightful session in which we learned many interesting facts about sharks!
CSI STORYLAND
After using storytelling techniques to introduce pupils to crimes and the suspects, we were given a range of clues left at the scene. We, then had to use our science and numeracy skills to reveal the identity of the miscreant!
BEEBOTS
Thank you to Monaghan Education Centre who lent us beebots. Pupils had to input instructions to allow the beebots to move from one place to another. A very competitive afternoon ensued with pupils striving to outdo each other in reaching the destination first.
STEM
STEM Wizz the leading seller of educational toys in Ireland provided us with kits to create our own battery powered machine such as robots, cars and even a mop cleaning machine! These kits help in the development of important life skill sets such as critical thinking, problem solving, social skills and cognitive learning styles. What a great time everyone had in assembling their kits and competing against each other in a race off!
