Science Week 2021

14th Nov 2021

The boys and girls had a busy time celebrating Science Week 2021. The pupils enjoyed some online activities followed by lots of science experiments.

The pupils attended the following online shows hosted by Cavan Monaghan Science Festival:

The Science of the Circus taught the boys and girls about the science behind the thrill and spills of the circus. Dr Ken took the pupils on a voyage of discovery investigating how performers make use of the many scientific principles in their tricks and stunts. The pupils enjoyed the fire eating the most!

On Thursday we joined Dr Linda Birkin as she busted some myths surrounding creepy crawlies! We were surprised by some of the answers.

Fur, feathers, scale and tails- Who am I? Was hosted by Dublin Zoo. The pupils enjoyed the interactive session which introduced them to some of the residents of Dublin Zoo. We finished the session by joining Dublin Zoos live web cam to visit the African Savannah, the penguins and we were just in time to see the elephants take a bath J

We finished off the celebrations with lots of experiments on Friday. Some experiments included Lava in a Cup, a Diet Coke and Mentos Eruption, Mixing Oil and Water and a Baking Soda and Vinegar Volcano!
